Demosthenes

If you are here reading my blog please keep in mind all I write is to try and get people to think, about the world around them. Because I know I may not relay my ideas and thoughts very well but on the most part the idea gets understood, recognised and maybe repeated to another person.

Seeing

People today take everything they have for granted, they walk and ran and jump, when there are people who can do none of those things. They ignore the wonderful natural beauties around them when some people would die to be able to see at all. And we are taking and using so much from the world itself we are destroying it.
Selfishness and greed. This is what lies within every human being of the planet. We seek to make our lives so full of pleasure and happiness we ignore all else. Just look around, see the intricate lines on leaves as they rustle about the tree's and f litter down to the ground. Realise that your body is precious and treat it accordingly, don't take risks that could kill you. Listen to the birds chirping and leaves rustling and the wind blowing, respect the world around you and treasure it.
This piece of work was inspired by my poor eye sight, I can still see luckily but I short-sighted, so the green leaves in the trees are no more than smudges, and a few weeks ago I saw a tree properly for the first time and I was amazed, because I realised that I had never seen I tree, I had only ever seen blurs of colour, I was nearly brought to tears in my amazement.
I hope after reading this that you will try to see and feel and listen to all that is around you.

Don't generalize. I take immense pleasure in small things, like butterflies, the noise of croaking frogs, birdsong, flowers...all things that should be valued for their own sake. I could point you to several posts on my blog that show this side of me, but here are three:

    Another Side of Hong Kong.

    Hong Kong Country.

Rise and Fall, which is about my favourite place in Hong Kong.

    All three contain original photography.

  3. Dennis, if we don't aspire to make our lives brighter than they are what are we meant to do, sit alone in the darkness? if someones life is dark i believe they should fight to brighten it.

  4. In the materialistic society in which we live today, people are way to concerned about there next lavish purchase rather than the luxuries they have around them. Love this post :)
